We are at ICIS 2025 in Nashville!

The International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) is a renowned information systems conference rated "A" in the VHB 2024 rating and was last listed as A* in the CORE ranking in 2018. ICIS 2025 will take place from 12/14/2025 to 12/17/2025 in Nashville, Tennessee in the USA.
Alexander van der Staay will present his full paper together with his team:
Markic, M., Webster, S., van der Staay, A., Bäßmann, F., Janiesch, C., Pöppelbuß, J. (2025). "Advancing AI Adoption in SMEs: A Framework for Nascent AI Strategy Development".
In the design science research project, we have developed an artifact in the form of a methodology that supports the assessment of a company's AI readiness and derives concrete measures for strategic development. In particular, the results underline the importance of structured AI training, centralized data management and cross-functional collaboration in order to sustainably advance AI initiatives in the dynamic environment of SMEs. The study thus contributes to theory and practice by providing a practice-oriented basis for the development of emergent AI strategies.
In addition, we are pleased that Alexander van der Staay, Mihael Markic, Lisa Skrzyppek, Jens Pöppelbuß and Christian Janiesch have been accepted with an extended abstract on "AI Challenges" as a format of AI dissemination for a paper development workshop of the VHB 2024 B-ranked journal MIS Quarterly Executive (MISQe).
This contribution forms the basis for the further development of a full paper for the MISQe Special Issue "The Future of Artificial Intelligence in the Enterprise" and addresses how AI challenges can act as an organization-wide enablement format to sustainably anchor AI tool usage in companies.
The articles will appear in the conference proceedings. We are looking forward to presenting our research and exchanging ideas with the global business informatics community at ICIS!
