New Article in the Journal Management Review Quarterly

Business process management (BPM) projects traditionally focus on time, cost, quality, and flexibility as their target dimensions, known as the Devil’s Quadrangle. However, in light of new factors such as employee values, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) requirements, as well as conscious business models, the traditional four dimensions of the Devil's Quadrangle appear outdated. Based on a comprehensive analysis of current BPM projects, we expand the Devil's Quadrangle into the BPM Goal Hexagon by retaining the dimensions of time, quality, and flexibility, but expanding cost to a more balanced economics dimension and adding a people and an environment dimension. The BPM Goal Hexagon provides a modern tool for defining and evaluating contemporary BPM objectives.
