Dissertation topic "Algorithmic Decision-Making Facilities: Perception and Design of Explainable AI-based Decision Support Systems"

Today, Lukas-Valentin Herm successfully defended his dissertation on “Algorithmic Decision-Making Facilities: Perception and Design of Explainable AI-based Decision Support Systems” at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg marking Prof. Janiesch's final PhD project in Würzburg as first advisor after moving to his new home at TU Dortmund University.

Thank you also to Prof. Dr. Axel Winkelmann for hosting Lukas for the remainder of his doctorate at your chair and thank you to Prof. Dr. Fabian Kosse for completing the examination committee.

The cumulative thesis contained 6 papers with a combined 2023 impact factor of 38. His plentiful research has already attracted 242 citations with many more to come. Naturally, his grade followed suit.

Congratulations. The glory is yours, your tie is mine (and photos on the wine barrel are private). ;-)

It is a pain to lose you to the lure of practice. Nevertheless, I wish you the very best for your next endeavors.
