Alexander van der Staay wins the Fujitsu NEXT IT Innovation Award 2024

Once a year, Fujitsu NEXT e.V. honors two outstanding theses at bachelor's or master's level. The IT Innovation Award recognizes theses from the fields of computer science, information systems and related disciplines that make a contribution to the further development of information technology through practical relevance and innovative approaches. The award is endowed with prize money of 3,000 euros and is presented by a jury of renowned representatives from science and business.
This year's award-winning master's thesis, Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence as a Service by Alexander van der Staay, was supervised by Prof. Christian Janiesch and Prof. Michael Rosemann from Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. The work deals comprehensively with the trust aspects that play a role in the use of AI functionalities via cloud services. The design science research study used agency theory and trust theory to transform trust problems into concrete design principles that help AIaaS providers to design their cloud services in a trustworthy way.
At an evening event in Dresden on 20.05.2025, the award was ceremoniously presented by after a presentation of the master's thesis.
