Students Develop Digital Solutions for Energy Supply

How does an idea quickly turn into a concrete digital solution? Students from TU Dortmund University explored this question on October 15 and 16 at the Vibe Coding Challenge held at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. Working in interdisciplinary teams alongside employees from adesso, Lumenaza, E.ON, SAP, and other partners, they developed innovative product concepts and initial prototypes for the energy sector. Among other tools, they used software from Lumenaza and SAP, as well as methods of agent-based software development.
The focus was on current topics in the energy sector, including energy sharing, tenant-generated electricity, direct marketing, and smart battery systems. The particular challenge lay in quickly translating technical requirements from different perspectives into concrete solutions. It became clear that AI-supported development requires far more than a single prompt: clearly formulated requirements, rapid iteration cycles, and a joint assessment of whether an approach is sound from both a technical and a business perspective are crucial.
For the students, the challenge offered the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a practical setting, collaborate directly with industry experts, and gain insights into real-world energy supply issues. The result was two inspiring days filled with discussion, creativity, and new ideas for the energy supply of tomorrow.
The Chair of Enterprise Computing, together with the Databases and Information Systems Group, developed and supported this format in collaboration with adesso.
