Doctoral course on the development of theoretical contributions from literature reviews

As part of the inter-institutional doctoral course "Research Methods in Information Systems" of the University Alliance Ruhr, Prof. Ralf Plattfau (University of Duisburg-Essen) and Prof. Christian Janiesch (TU Dortmund University) held a joint session at the University of Duisburg-Essen on Thursday.
Under the motto "How to do literature reviews? How to develop meaningful theory out of them?", the two professors discussed key questions about conducting literature reviews and deriving theoretical and conceptual contributions from them with over twenty doctoral students from the three participating universities (TU Dortmund University, University of Duisburg-Essen and Ruhr-Universität Bochum).
The participants showed great commitment and enthusiasm for their research work at the interface of organizations and IT. Following the kick-off session with Prof. Christian Meske in October, which covered the basics of the information systems research field, this session marked the second milestone in the course.
Next on the agenda is an event with Prof. Hannes Rothe at Place Beyond Bytes, which will focus on topics relating to data and network analysis.
