Fatma Demircan's Bachelor's thesis entitled "Design principles for ethical automated workload recording in the IIoT" was awarded a prize at the 20th Internationale Tagung Wirtschaftsinformatik in Münster.

Fatma Demircan, a graduate of our chair, was awarded the runner-up in the "Die Wirtschaftsinformatik - Verein zur Förderung der Wirtschaftsinformatik(Die WI) e.V." competition for her outstanding Bachelor's thesis. The award ceremony took place as part of the 20th internationale Tagung Wirtschaftsinformatik(WI25) on September 16, 2025 in Münster and is endowed with prize money of €500.

Her work is dedicated to a highly topical and socially significant issue: the ethical challenges of using Industrial Internet of Things technologies to capture cognitive workloads. In an increasingly networked world, in which data protection and ethical responsibility towards employees are becoming ever more central, the work provides important impulses for both science and practice.

Particularly noteworthy are the interdisciplinary approach and the inclusion of philosophical perspectives through which Fatma Demircan has developed design principles. These were evaluated through interviews with experts from the field and offer valuable orientation for companies as well as a well-founded contribution to the scientific discourse.

We congratulate Ms. Demircan on her award!
