New Scientific Network of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft

Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft © Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (2023)

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft is funding the multi-year cross-location exchange on "AI Algorithms for Decision-Making in Businesses and Organizations"

Scientific networks of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft offer scientists in all career phases the opportunity to engage in a multi-year, cross-location exchange on a scientific topic of their choice with the aim of achieving a concrete result. A scientific network consists of a fixed group of usually 10 to 20 people, which can also include scientists working abroad.

The central topic of this scientific network is around developing, implementing, and evaluating new AI technologies to support decision-making in businesses and organizations. As such, a distinguishing element are innovative algorithms from the area of AI (e.g., explainable AI, generative AI, foundation models, probabilistic ML, causal ML, etc.) that allow for new insights in practice and, on top of that, hold great potential to inform and improve decision-making. In particular, the network is planned as an interdisciplinary initiative that pools and exchanges innovative AI technologies from various sub-fields of business research (e.g., marketing, operations) through an integrated format.

In addition to Prof. Dr. Janiesch, the following professors are involved in this scientific network (in alphabetical order):

A first major collaboration date has already been scheduled with the Dagstuhl Seminar on "Leveraging AI for Management Decision-Making" from August 18 to 21, 2024. We look forward to the collaboration!
